Becoming A Member Agency

Currently, the Food Bank serves more than 300 non-profit agencies in an eight county area that includes Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Williams and Wood. Member agencies include emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, rehabilitation centers, special programs for the elderly and children, group homes, holiday food basket programs and non-profit day care centers.  

 

A member agency of the Food Bank is required to be a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization, who provides food at no cost to those in need. All agencies are required to submit monthly statistics to the Food Bank documenting the number of meals and/or persons served. The Food Bank monitors each agency every two years to determine whether their facility is suitable for ensuring the wholesomeness of food until it is used and/or distributed.

 

IRS 501 (c)(3)
501(c)(3) exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund, or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposes, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.
