Tommy Castro & The Painkillers
Award-winning guitarist/vocalist/songwriter and Alligator Records recording artist Tommy Castro has been playing his signature branch of rocking rhythm and blues professionally for over 25 years. With his new, stripped-down, turbo-charged band, The Painkillers, Castro has embarked on the next phase of his storied career. Along with original Tommy Castro Band bassist Randy McDonald, new members Byron Cage on drums and James Pace on keyboards, Castro pares his music down to its tough, raw core.
Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express
Brian Auger, the famed B3 and keyboard player, has created a distinct voice that combines jazz, rock, soul and funk. With over 20 albums to his name and lengthy stints on the RCA and Warner Bros. labels, Brian Auger has accumulated Grammy Nominations, 10 albums charting in Billboard’s Hot 100, a #1 single, and the title of "The Godfather of Acid Jazz". Brian's bands over the years have featured Rod Stewart, Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll and even Jimi Hendrix.
Hard-rocking blues-soaked guitarist/vocalist/song-writer Tinsley Ellis sings and plays with the energy and soul of all the great Southern musicians who have come before him. Ellis attacks his music with rock power and blues feeling, following in the tradition of Deep South musical heroes Duane Allman, Freddie King, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. His live shows feature extended fretwork filled with melodic and rhythmic experimentation, in the spirit of jam bands like his friends Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers.
Morgen Stiegler’s performances feature a mixture of standards, pop tunes and original compositions. Morgen performs regularly with her trio and quartet and larger ensembles, singing in venues that have included New Orleans’ Snug Harbor and the Birdland in Hamburg, and has appeared with members of the New York Voices and Toledo Jazz Orchestra. Morgen is a co-founding faculty of the BGSU New York Voices vocal jazz camp.
