Host A Food Drive
Food Drives are another important way you can help serve the hungry in our communities.
We now offer two convenient ways for you to donate food and much needed resources to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank:
1. Host A Traditional Food Drive
We can help you organize and host a Food Drive in your area any time of the year. As many donate during the holidays, our time of greatest need is April through October. Contact Jessi Averill, at email@example.com or call 419.242.5000 (ext. 216) for more information on how to conduct your own food drive and to schedule a drop off/pick up of food bins before and after your drive.
2. Donate To Our Virtual Food Drive
Our Virtual Food Drive (VFD) is an easy, convenient way to donate without leaving your home or workplace. Fast, simple and secure, our VFD is an interactive, internet-based technology designed to look like a grocery store. It allows individuals to select items off the shelves and “checkout" securely online with a bank or debit card. Your donation through the VFD will go further than donating physical food items, because the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank will be able to purchase the exact items families need at our discounted price.

3. Host Your Own Virtual Food Drive
Join the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank in the fight to end hunger by hosting your own Virtual Food Drive (VFD). Start a workplace, school or place of worship online drive, or host your own VFD as a personal online fundraiser in honor of a relative or celebration. Whatever the occasion, your Virtual Food Drive will be a fun and easy way to help those in need in Northwest Ohio!
Why host a Virtual Food Drive? The answer is simple – online donations get more food to hungry people faster. By holding your food drive online, you’ll be saving the Food Bank the time and resources incurred by a physical food drive. Plus, your donations will help us purchase more of our most-needed food items, like peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, beans and cereals.
Some ideas for using the Virtual Food Drive:
- Share the VFD with your friends on social media and let them know you donated.
- Suggest that your workplace create a customized food drive contest between departments to see which department donates the most food. It’s a great team-building activity for a great cause.
- Help children host a VFD, at home or in school, and teach them the value of giving back.
How do I host a Virtual Food Drive? Your customized VFD will have all the tools you’ll need to set up a fundraising page, accept online donations, track your progress, and share updates with family and friends. We will customize your “virtual store” with your logo, photo or name and send a unique link for you to circulate online. Then just set a fundraising goal and invite co-workers, friends and family to help you reach it and you’re off and running! We will track participation and send you progress reports.
