Host a Food Drive

We invite businesses, churches, schools, and community organizations to join us in the fight against hunger by hosting a food drive!
Food drive time frames can range from one day to one month, and we now offer two different ways to be involved in hosting so you can choose what is best for you!

Host A Traditional Food Drive

A traditional food drive is an organized effort to collect non-perishable foods to donate to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank.

We can help you organize and host a Food Drive in your area any time of the year. As many donate during the holidays, our time of greatest need is April through October.

Why host a Traditional Food Drive?

A traditional food drive is the perfect opportunity to build community within your work, school, religious or neighborhood setting. As the food drive boxes fill, those participating can visualize how important their efforts are to their neighbors seeking hunger relief. Because traditional food drives have actually food items collected, there is no time wasted getting the food directly to the food pantries’ shelves.

How do I host a Traditional Food Drive?

The first step is deciding where you will hold your food drive and for how long. Some drives are held for one day; others over several weeks. Next, you can fill out our contact form and submit to us for follow up. Or you can call us directly to work out the logistics. We have food drive boxes and flyers available for your use.

To set up a Traditional Food Drive

Contact Jessi Averill, at javerill@toledofoodbank.org or call 419.242.5000 (ext. 216) for more information on how to host your own food drive and to schedule a drop off/pick up of food drive boxes.

Host a Virtual Food Drive

Start a workplace, school or place of worship online drive, or host your own VFD as a personal online fundraiser in honor of a relative or celebration. Whatever the occasion, your Virtual Food Drive will be a fun and easy way to help those in need in Northwest Ohio!

Why host a Virtual Food Drive?

The answer is simple – online donations get more food to hungry people faster. By holding your food drive online, you’ll be saving the Food Bank the time and resources incurred by a physical food drive. Plus, your donations will help us purchase more of our most-needed food items, like peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, beans and cereals.

How do I host a Virtual Food Drive?

Your customized VFD will have all the tools you’ll need to set up a fundraising page, accept online donations, track your progress, and share updates with family and friends. We will customize your “virtual store” with your logo, photo or name and send a unique link for you to circulate online. Then just set a fundraising goal and invite co-workers, friends and family to help you reach it and you’re off and running! We will track participation and send you progress reports.
