The Harvest Market is a grocery store on wheels that brings an array of shelf-stable products and produce to communities that would otherwise lack access to healthy food choices. Our volunteers are an integral part to making our market days great for each and every shopper. Volunteer duties range from setting up and tearing down the market, pulling orders off the truck, being a shopping assistant, or a PantyTrak operator.   • Time Commitment: We ask that our volunteers complete an entire shift at a Harvest Market. A shift entails volunteering from 10:00-1:00 on any given market day.
  • Currently, the Harvest Market is unable to accommodate volunteer groups larger than 6 people

Harvest Market Volunteer Job Descriptions

PantryTrak Operator

What is PantryTrak? PantryTrak is an online database used by the Harvest Market to quickly and more efficiently serve families. It replaces the Eligibility To Take Food Home paper form (part of The Emergency Food Assistance Program).

PantryTrak Job Description: As a PantryTrak volunteer, you will serve as the check in station for Harvest Market shoppers. Here, volunteers will register shoppers into the PantryTrak system and record their market visit.

Training: Training for PantryTrak takes place on site at our Harvest Markets. Volunteers will work with a Harvest Market staff member both before and during their first Harvest Market to learn the PantryTrak system. Individuals will be provided training materials and reference sheets on PantryTrak and will always be working with members of the Harvest Market team who have knowledge of the PantryTrak system should any issues arise.

Time Commitment: We ask that our PantryTrak Volunteer completes an entire shift at the Harvest Market. A shift entails volunteering from 10:00-1:00 on any given Harvest Market day. Though, depending on the situation, we may be able to accommodate shorter shifts. In most locations, our Harvest Market operates once a month. PantryTrak Volunteers are more than welcome to volunteer monthly if their schedule allows.

Job Requirements:  For this position we are seeking individuals who are comfortable using technology.

Market Set-Up/Tear-Down & Pulling Orders

Job Description: Volunteers will assist with setting up and breaking down tables and tents as well as organizing the products on the truck and pulling orders

Training: No training is necessary. The Harvest Market staff will be there on market days to help guide you on set-up/tear-down and pulling orders.

Time Commitment: We ask our volunteers to complete an entire shift as the Harvest Market. A shift entails volunteering from 10:00-1:00 on any given Harvest Market day. Though, depending on the situation, we may be able to accommodate shorter shifts. In most locations, our Harvest Markets operates once a month. Volunteers are more than welcome to volunteer monthly if their schedule allows.

Job Requirements: This role involves lifting and handling boxes. As such, we are seeking individuals who are able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Shopping Assistant

Shopping Assistant

Job Description: Shopping Assistant volunteers will assist shoppers in every aspect of the market experience by helping fill out menu forms, weighing and recording produce, and bagging and boxing orders.

Training: No training is necessary. This is an easy, interactive volunteer position. Any information needed will be provided on market days.

Time Commitment: We ask our volunteers to complete an entire shift as the Harvest Market. A shift entails volunteering from 10:00-1:00 on any given Harvest Market day. Though, depending on the situation, we may be able to accommodate shorter shifts. In most locations, our Harvest Markets operates once a month. Volunteers are more than welcome to volunteer monthly if their schedule allows.

Job Requirements: For this position, we are seeking individuals who will actively engage with our shoppers.
