What Is In-Reach?

The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank Outreach Department is dedicated to its mission of feeding, educating, and empowering our communities of NW Ohio. To help guide its mission, the Outreach Department works directly with communities and organizations. Through its grassroot agenda of groundwork, the department is determined to leave no one behind. The Food Bank has developed an extensive program where visit correctional institutions to assist soon to be released men and women. Inmates will receive valuable information that will connect them with the resources that they need, in hopes that it will prevent their return.  This webpage is specifically designed to help those reentering our community.

Inmates will find on this page extensive information that will help guide them into creating a plan of action upon and after their release. Several programs are available for inmates to prevent recidivism/ future incarceration. We understand that one of the many dilemmas of newly released inmates are higher rates of food insecurity. This webpage will provide info and resources to help lessen the impact, which will include steps they take regarding SNAP benefits.

It’s imperative to bring awareness to important programs and resources to better connect and help every person who seeks out help. Bringing access to resources in our community better supports individuals and promotes a safer and healthier community.
